Teacher Training Program

The Latin Ballroom offers Dance Teacher Training Program (TTP) in a variety of styles and techniques, and is fully authorised and approved by the Dance Industry Association of Australia. This page provides only the most modest overview of the TTP.

On January 1st the Dance Industry Association of Australia (DIAA) published the final draft of the Certificate (IV) in Dance, which is the National Qualification for dance teachers.

Before final acceptance, selected member Studios (including The Latin Ballroom) have been asked to conduct Pilot Programs, with a view to confirming the contents before final ratification.

In the very near future, full details will be posted on this page, but here is a BRIEF overview of the Qualification. It should be noted that as this Qualification is aligned with the National Qualification Framework, and the requirements of Vocational Education & Training (VET), the layout and contents may seem strange at first, and difficult to appreciate WHY they are included in a Dance Teacher type qualification, but we'll include more of this in a later update.

The layout below is for a Certificate (IV) qualification only. The Diploma (and higher) are still some time away.

Details of these Units is provided elsewhere, but it should be noted they require candidates to demonstrate BOTH gender roles.

(Other dance styles such as Ballet, Hip Hop, etc. are also covered by this Qualification, but have not been included here for brevity).
